Our culture

The culture throughout ME Bank is exciting and vibrant. We live by our values and our aspiration is to be a high performing organisation, where we have a one-team approach as we strive for excellence in customer service, leadership and everything we do.

Being a smaller sized bank means we are more connected to our products and services. It means we have the chance to contribute to improving the way we do things. The ME Bank "Think Tank" is one example where all ME Bank staff have the opportunity to share innovative ideas in transforming the organisation. This initiative coupled with our Responsibility Program reflects our strong commitment to being a good corporate citizen and makes ME Bank the place to work.

At a glance, some of our key policies and initiatives include:

Graduate program - 2012

In the coming year we will be participating in a graduate program. This is coordinated by the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST) on behalf of industry, public sector and corporate superannuation funds and associated service providers such as ME Bank.

At ME Bank we are keen to attract graduates who can identify with our philosophy and values. They will have drive and potential to contribute to ME Bank's future. This means assisting our customers to achieve a better quality of life through the products and the services we provide.

In previous years we have partnered with AIST in running three successful cadet programs. We are now using that experience to focus on attracting and developing graduates within ME Bank. Here's what some of our previous cadets have said about their experience with ME Bank.

I have been fortunate enough to have been involved with the Super Cadet Program on a number of levels, being lucky enough to undertake the cadet program in 2006, and also through providing training support for a number of other cadets who have completed the program whilst being placed with ME Bank.

In particular the four weeks of off-the-job training and industry placement provided me with a great opportunity to learn from inspirational people who are passionate about the ideals of industry super. Gaining this higher level of understanding and appreciation of the background of the ACTU and industry super has really been beneficial in assisting my career development with ME Bank.

Samantha Leckie, National Customer Contact Centre Operations Manager

The Super Cadets Program was a great introduction into banking and super and connected me with a network of industry professionals that has helped me forge a rewarding career in the finance industry.

Building life long relationships with intelligent, like-minded individuals was the highlight of my graduate year.

Julien Baggiere, Marketing Manager

Throughout the cadet program I spent time in several areas of the bank, providing me with a sound understanding of how a retail bank functions.

The relationships with other cadets and the opportunity to work at Industry Fund Superannuation, AustralianSuper and ACTU Member Connect added further value and industry perspective to the program.

We were also given the opportunity to further our education through the completion of the PS146 qualification.

Richard Press, Product Management Support Consultant

Our graduates will be warmly welcomed into the ME Bank team and will enjoy learning about our products, services and culture. They will undertake the training curriculum set by AIST, which includes a mentoring component and have the opportunity to network with other graduates across the Industry Superannuation Network. Depending on the backgrounds of the graduates and their qualifications, there will also be the chance to undertake other developmental opportunities that will be designed to stretch and challenge them in readiness for their chosen career path.

If you are interested in applying for this program, please go to the AIST Super Graduate website for more information about eligibility and how to apply.
